Associate Creative Director / AD at Gut SP

Hello stranger ✌️

I'm Rick Garcia, 32 years old and I pridefully come from a small town on the coast of São Paulo, Brazil called Bertioga. If you know me, you’ve probably heard me talking about it at some point. Currently located in Amsterdam, I work as Associate Creative Director at 180 Global. In my portfolio you’ll find some of my work from the last 10 years, but in this section, I will tell you a little more about myself and a little less about career, after all these stories intertwine and led me to where I am today.

Every kid likes drawing and my childhood was no different. Now imagine having art teacher parents and a home with every imaginable type of paint, paper, pens, fabrics, pyrographs and other crazy materials to experiment with. When I turned 18, responsibility knocked on my door as I suddenly became a father. This gave me an extra motivation at the very beginning of my career. I went to São Paulo where I worked at a few agencies and was always the youngest in the team (even though it didn't look like it). Just like my grandfather I went bald early, I can blame it on genetics or the stress of the profession, but I will never know. I worked with brands I love, and some that I hated, won a few awards but the coolest part was the amazing people I met in agencies, including my wife. During the pandemic, I learned a new language, changed countries, visited places I never imagined and discovered more than a thousand ways to explain how I am Brazilian and play soccer so badly.
